I updated your attempt to send a list of binaries (iovec) instead of a binary to the chunk processor to eliminate a copy of the read binary, and then I used binary syntax to parse instead of binary:split. On my machine the execution time for 1B measurements went from ~90 seconds to ~60 seconds.
